There are challenges we know we can't avoid, yet we still find ways to put them off.
We tell ourselves that tomorrow will be a better time. That we need to understand things a little better first. That maybe, if we think about it one more time, we'll finally find the answer we're looking for.
And that's how the days go by. Then the months. Sometimes, even the years.
The thing is, what we put off doesn't simply stay where we left it. It keeps taking up space. It shows up in our minds while we're working or just before we fall asleep. It drains our energy, creates anxiety, and over time, can even start to affect our confidence in ourselves.
And the longer we wait, the bigger the challenge can seem.
It's not that we don't want to move forward. Sometimes, we simply don't know how. Or we've spent so long trying to solve the same problem in the same way that we can no longer see any other options.
And that's when we come face to face with one of the hardest things to admit: maybe we can't do it alone.
Admitting that we don't have all the answers takes humility. Recognizing that we need help takes courage.
Because the people we meet along the way can make a huge difference. A friend who asks the question we needed to hear. A mentor who helps us see something we couldn't see on our own. A professional who has tools and experience that we don't.
The right person won't necessarily make the challenge disappear. But they can help us stop going around in circles and find a different way forward.
Sometimes, moving forward isn't about trying harder. It's about recognizing that we're not getting there on our own and having the humility to ask for help.
Because maybe, after all this time of going around in circles, what we really needed wasn't another answer.
Maybe we just needed to stop walking alone.
Admitting that we don't have all the answers takes humility
Recognizing that we need help takes courage.
